Cheryl Azulay, UKKnee Replacement, Lithuania
I have recently returned from Kaunas after having a total knee replacement. Every part of the Nord Organisation was fantastic, they really have thought of everything. From my initial contact to my actual operation was only a matter of a few weeks and I was guided through the whole process by my contact at Nord, Ausra who arranged transport, accommodation, an operation date and physio. I travelled alone but it was reassuring to learn that around 50% of patients travel on their own. My surgeon Professor Tarasevicius introduced himself before my operation and explained what would happen and visited me twice after surgery to check in on me. After 2 nights in the clinic, I was taken back to my hotel and helped to unpack. I had 7 days physio with an excellent team lead by Professor Laimonas before returning to the UK. I cannot fault any step of my journey, and I consider myself lucky to be in a position to take this step as II would not hesitate to return if I needed any further surgery
Melanie Ford, UKKnee Replacement, Lithuania
I’ve just had my 2nd knee replacement at Nord, 12 months apart and the service they provide is faultless. Initial enquiries are straightforward and my contact was Justina, who replied to emails quickly with a complete response. She advised me at every step, with what I needed prior to surgery , such as blood work, echocardiogram etc and also what kind of things I should pack to take for my stay. Once in Lithuania, Nord arrange everything from airport transfers to hotel and transport to and from physio. My physiotherapist was primarily Matisse and he was a true gentleman with a sense of humour. Matisse pushed us as a small group, praised us when we were completing tasks successfully and made sure we were doing exactly what was expected of us to ensure our recovery was as good as can be. Would highly recommend Nord Orthopaedics for any orthopaedic surgery needs.
Barry Gray, UKKnee Replacement, Lithuania
I contacted Nordorthopaedics clinic in Lithuania and spoke with Emilija who guided me through absolutely everything, all questions etc. Replies to emails were answered within HOURS, not days or weeks, that we are used to here, and the service didn't stop there either.
Nothing was too much trouble for anyone in the team from drivers who were excellent who collected us from the airport to hotel, from hotel to hospital and then to physio. From admin staff to surgeons to physio we could not have wished for more care and consideration. I had a full knee replacement and 10 days intensive physio, it’s now 10 weeks since the op. and I have 110 -15 degrees bend and expecting more, as I still have some slight swelling, and at 81 ( and not having too much more time left to waste) am now back to be being fully active and couldn’t be more happy.
So a very big thank you to the pro. Tarasevicius, surgeon, and pro. Dr Siupsinskas, physio and their assistants and staff. We stayed at the Kaunas .

Recovery After Knee Replacement Surgery: Key Tips
Physical therapy is a big part of getting back to normal after surgery. Additionally, consider these exercises to target specific muscle groups:
- Improve knee flexion by gently stretching your hamstrings.
- Strengthen your thigh muscles with half squats.
- Try bending your knees or moving your leg side to side while lying on your back.
Stretching Hamstrings
A waterproof dressing will be applied to your knee after surgery. Keep this dressing on for about 7 days unless it shifts or gets too wet.
Stitches/Staples:
- Stitches or staples will be removed 10-21 days after surgery.
- You can shower, but try to keep the dressing as dry as possible.
- Contact your doctor immediately if you notice any leakage, swelling, or pain at the incision site.
